PROFORIS UPDATE: Netherlands Funded International Forest and Biodiversity projects on-line!

We have the pleasure to inform you that the PROFORIS website has been updated substantially since our last communication: www.proforis.nl

The website now includes detailed information on 1585 projects in the fields of international forestry, nature and biodiversity funded by the Netherlands Government.

Information can be accessed on 904 projects funded through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, 350 projects funded directly or managed by the Ministry of LNV (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) in its nature and water programmes, and 331 funded by the Netherlands Government through the small grants programmes managed by IUCN-NL in the fields of tropical rainforests, wetlands and dry areas.

In addition the website includes a new section on the recently launched Biodiversity Policy programme 2008-2011 of the Netherlands Government: 'Biodiversity works: for nature, for people, forever'.

Short descriptions of the projects are presented in English after chosing the desired selection criteria on the PROFORIS Project page. The project database is managed by Wageningen International, part of the Wageningen University and Research centre.

The set-up, maintenance and the regular update of the database and the website have been financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.
