About the Platform


 This Platform aims to bring together all individuals and organisations active in the field of developing tools and guidelines for Nature Valuation and Financing as well as applications for sustainable development in Turkey as well as potential application of Turkish experiences in other developing economies. 

The website will provide a portal function to organisations, related links and relevant literature. The site is interactive, meaning it is possible for visitors to both download and upload information (e.g.important documents), reply to discussions on the discussion forum and provide input relevant to the Turkish National Platform.

The objective of the Turkish platform is to explore the possibility of international collaboration for research and eventual promoting, awareness raising, and lobbying for the values of rare and endangered habitats and landscapes of the country on national and international levels (Click here for background)

    She completed her MSc at Wageningen University where she researched the ecological and socio-economic values of Tuz Lake Specially Protected Area in Central Anatolia, Turkey. She was campaign coordinater of the Zero Extinction Campaign in Nature Society, the Turkish BirdLife affiliate. Currently she works as a fundraiser at Sabanci University in Istanbul. Esra Basak has been working for nature conservation in Turkey since 1998.

 

  • Mr. Adaman, professor of economics at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul - adaman@boun.edu.tr

    Professor Adaman was one of the delegate members representing the civil society of Turkey on environmental issues at the Johannesburg Earth Summit of 2002 (WSSD). His research areas include: ecological economics, environmental valuation, urbanization, participatory planning, and environment-poverty relationship.(BA and MA in Economics at Boğaziçi University; PhD in Economics at Manchester University)
